Mmmmm. There’s nothing quite like the rich aroma of
cinnamon to really spice up the holidays. And the intense scent of cinnamon not only smells great, it is known to lower anxiety and boost brainpower. So try one of these
remarkable recipes to get your whole house smelling divine!
Cinnamon Ornaments:
The kids and grandkids will have a blast making these spice-scented ornaments. They're a cinch to make and their aroma lasts long after the holidays are over.
Mix 1 bottle (4 oz.) of ground cinnamon with 3/4 cup of applesauce in a small bowl until a smooth ball of dough is formed. Sprinkle ground
cinnamon on a cutting board or counter, and roll out the dough to about ¼-inch
thick. Cut shapes from the dough with cookie cutters, and poke a hole at the
top of each for hanging on the tree later. Let the ornaments dry at room
temperature for 2 days, turning every 8 hours or so, or bake them in a 200 degree oven for 2 hours. You can decorate your
pretty new ornaments with white paint, or just hang them as-is on the tree
using colorful ribbons.
Anise-Cinnamon Tea
Combine 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon of
aniseed, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon
of honey in a small pan. Bring just to a boil, lower the heat, and simmer for 5
to 10 minutes. Strain and serve hot.
