Valentine’s Day
is just around the corner and the supermarkets are bursting with beautiful blossoms. If
you’re lucky enough to receive a bouquet of beautiful roses from your beloved,
make them last forever by drying the rose petals and turning them into lovely
potpourri. Here’s how:
·
Once
the flowers have fully opened, but before the petals turn brown, remove the
petals from the stem and place them in a single layer on a screen or anything
that allows circulation.
·
In
a warm dark place, let them dry for about 2 weeks.
·
Place
dried petals in a jar with 1 teaspoon of rose essential oil for every cup.
·
Add
1-2 tbsp. of dried orris root (found in most grocery spice aisles) per cup of potpourri to help preserve
the fragrance of the rose petals.
· Put
the lid on the jar and store it for 2 weeks, shaking it daily to blend the
scents.
Now all that’s
left to do is place the pretty potpourri in a glass bowl or candy dish and enjoy the pleasant aroma!
