Ditch the Itch, and Don't Flake Out!

It’s too early for snow to be falling, but sometimes it seems like those flakes on your shoulders are always in season. Over-the-counter shampoos may help, but dandruff flakes are resilient little buggers. Here are three all-natural solutions that’ll help you stop looking over your shoulder—literally.

1.   Boil 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 cup of water, and 1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves. Strain and pour the solution into an airtight container. Let it cool, then gently massage it into your scalp, and allow it to dry. Do not shampoo or rinse your hair for at least 12 hours.

2.   Mix 2 ounces of lemon juice with 1 quart of water, and pour it onto your hair, working it into your scalp with your fingers. Let it sit for 30 minutes, and then shampoo normally. Repeat this process daily until the dandruff disappears (usually within a few weeks).

3.   Try taking a break from shampoo. Replace any shampoo you’ve been using with baking soda for a month. Just wet your hair, massage a few handfuls of baking soda through your scalp, and rinse. The baking soda will absorb all of the oil from your scalp and loosen the dead skin. It will initially make your hair very dry, but after the 30 days are up, the dandruff will be gone, and your hair will be silky and shiny.
