Halloween is this weekend, and I’m anticipating a spooky night filled with chills and thrills. But mostly I’m looking forward to seeing my little neighbors dressed up as ghostly monsters and brave superheroes. They get so excited—and who can blame them? Not only do they get to dress up, they also get to fill their bags with piles of yummy candy!

Keep your little trick-or-treater safe this Halloween by following a few simple rules:
  • When selecting a costume, make sure hems, sashes, and capes aren’t so long that your child could trip over them. And avoid high heels, too.
  • Make sure younger kids are accompanied by a responsible adult. And have older kids carry a cell phone so they can check in with you often. Then set a time for them to be home.
  • Let your kids know they are not to eat any treats until all of the candy has been inspected by you.
  • Have your child carry a glow stick or flashlight, or have them put reflective tape on their costume to make them more visible to cars.
Happy Halloween!
