If you're feeling the effects of a long winter stuck indoors, put on a happy face with a homemade facial. Using grocery store ingredients, you can whip up one of these blues-busters in no time. Not only will they soften your skin, they'll refresh and restore your vitality.
Face Food
You'd be hard-pressed to find a more skin-pleasing fruit than an avocado. Its high fat content makes it the perfect base for this nourishing mask:
- 1/2 of an avocado
- 1 tbsp. of plain yogurt
- 1/2 tsp. of vitamin E oil
Mash the avocado, then blend in the yogurt and vitamin E oil. Smooth the mixture onto your face, paying close attention to the fine lines around your eyes and mouth. Leave it on for 20 minutes, and rinse with warm water.
How-Sweet-It-Is Moisture Mask
If you're looking for a more pleasant scent, soften and nourish your skin with this sweet-smelling facial:
- 2 tbsp. of mashed strawberries
- 1 tbsp. of coconut oil
- 1 tbsp. of olive oil
- 1 tbsp. of vegetable oil
- 2 drops of vitamin E oil
- Witch hazel
Combine the berries and oils in a bowl. Smooth the mixture sparingly onto your face and go about your business for a few hours. Then rinse with warm water, and use a cotton pad to pat your face with witch hazel. Store any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator and use within a few days.
