Recipes for Summer Relief

Ahhhh…summer! The sun is shining, the flowers are beautiful, and all is right with the world. Except that the bugs are biting. And that sunburn—yowza! OK, so along with the good stuff, summer comes with its own tales of woe. So here are a few old-fashioned ways to lick ‘em so you can get back to enjoying the great outdoors.

Sunburn. Dab whole milk on the burn for 15 minutes every 2 to 4 hours.

Bug bites. Dissolve two antacid tablets in a glass of water. Then moisten a soft cloth with the solution, and hold it on the bite for 20 minutes.

Athlete’s foot. Wipe apple cider vinegar on your afflicted tootsies several times a day.

Stinky sneakers. Sprinkle a little baking soda in your shoes after you wear ‘em. (Just remember to shake it out before you slip the shoes on.)

Smelly armpits. Eat pumpkin seeds. They provide a good, concentrated supply of the mineral zinc, a deficiency of which can lead to body odor.
