There probably isn’t a single nutrient that does more for your body than vitamin C. And now that ragweed allergy season is in full swing, you can combine nature’s heavy hitter with vitamins A and E to fight sinus headaches. Together they can strengthen your membranes and immune system, reduce congestion, and help protect against cold- and flu-causing germs.

Check the drugstore for a combination vitamin, then ask your doctor about the dosage that’s right for you. Or you can get your daily dose by eating vitamin rich fresh produce like oranges, apricots, carrots, and tomatoes.

Here’s a super salad that’s anything but green. It’s a zingy side dish that’s got a delicious taste and a big dose of health benefits—it’s loaded with vitamins C and A.

Ingredients:
1 can (15 ounces) whole baby beets, drained
1/2 cup canned mandarin orange segments, drained
1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel.
1/4 cup orange juice
1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary

Cut the beets in half and place them in a small bowl. Add the orange segments, orange peel, orange juice, and rosemary, and stir. Chill well, then serve and enjoy!
